Nikon FE
[1978-1984]

The FE was one of the most successful Nikon compact designs. This is an excellent camera for someone starting in photography. The FE has AE priority autoexposure control and complete manual control via a match needle visible in the viewfinder. If the battery goes dead the camera will still function at a fixed 1/90 sec. The addition of the matched MD-12 Motor drive allows for frame rates of 3.2 per second.

Nikon FE2
[1983-1989]

The FE2 was a further improvement on the FE. Considered by many to be the ideal camera it expands on the successful Nikon FE. The titanium shutter allowed for a fast shutter speed of 1/4000 sec. In addition, the flash sync is at 1/250 sec. (twice that of most other SLR cameras). Thru the lens flash control measures the light received at the film plane and sends a signal back to a dedicated flash to precisely control the amount of light used.
